Performing Arts Wrap Up

Drama & Music

Paul Kelly famously sang from "little things big things grow" and this is certainly true of the year we have had in Performing Arts @ ECSC! From humble beginnings our Music department has grown so rapidly, better then we could have imagined. Our Drama team has implemented new and exciting curriculum and there are fantastic plans in the works for 2023!

Drama Curriculum Innovations

Year 7 Drama this year aimed to get students viewing their worlds through the lens of a drama practitioner by creating short performances in a Melodrama theatre style.

Year 8 Drama focused on developing the expressive and performance skills of all students, paying close attention to role taking and role playing. Students created an infomercial, recreated a movie scene and developed their own scenes and characters for a range of performance tasks.

Year 10 Drama was a massive success with this semester’s cohort presenting the very first play Edgar’s Creek has seen. The Year 10’s presented an original play where they performed multiple roles. They also developed and designed all elements of theatre, such as set, costume, props and sound design. It was a major success given that it was the first time any of them had stepped foot in a drama class!

The Performing Arts team are working hard behind the scenes to create meaningful curricular for the students at ECSC. Together, we aim to build the program by continuing our hugely successful Performing Arts Club, new subjects in 2023 and much much more! We wish all of our community, students and families a safe and restful summer break.

End of Year Instrumental Music Concert

Students enrolled in the Instrumental Music Program for 2022 were proud to host and perform in an informal End Of Year Lunch Time Music Concert on Friday 9th December. It was a great way to close out the year and we look forward to offering many more Performance opportunities in 2023!
