Principal's Message

Mrs. Cassie Lynch

Welcome Back to 2023!

We are excited to be back within our beautiful surroundings with laughter and happiness filling our school once again. We have welcomed a number of students to our school this year including our very excited Foundation students.

At the end of 2022, we had to make the decision to relocate our Foundation classroom due to ongoing and undetected water damage to the students classroom. We have contacted our insurance company at this point and are awaiting further instructions. This process is taking some time but we thankfully have a wonderful alternate space located in the Hall. Our staff and students have embraced this space and are working together to make the best out of a bad situation.

In our new look newsletter this week we hope that you find a range of interesting articles to engage! We are looking to share more information in an easy to read format. We also hope to share more student focused work and images. This week, our classroom in focus is the Foundation room.

We are currently reviewing our After School Care Service as legislation has changed in this area. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue to operate under our current organisational structure and need to find an alternative provider to facilitate our service. In the past, we have been able to obtain grant money to keep this service affordable for our families. Due to the changes in legislation, this is no longer an option moving forward.

We are giving families 6 months notice of our

intended change of service provider/ potential further price increases/potential service closure.

The full letter is provided below.

Please know, we will endeavour to try all options. Our main concern is around cost at this stage and viability due to the number of students who use our service. We will continue to keep everyone informed as we find out more. This may include parent surveys that explore price increases and ongoing demand for the service.

In closing I just wish to say that our students have made a wonderful start to the 2023 school year. They have embraced all timetable and structural changes with cautious enthusiasm. The most talked about topic this week is our play first, eat last change. Whilst students have given this mixed reviews, we have noticed that when the students come to eat, they are hungry and they are eating their food. Students are then returning to class calmer having had the time to sit and regulate while eating. As staff, we do take feedback seriously and we will continue to listen and adjust as we go.

Blessings,

Cassie Lynch
