NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week at FPS

Fairfield Primary School celebrated NAIDOC week last week. The theme for this year is, “Always Was, Always Will Be.” It reminds us that our continent has always belonged to First Nations people for the last 65,000 years.

Fairfield Primary School is committed to recognising and educating ourselves on the history of our land and our First Nations people. We acknowledge that they are our first bakers, first astrologists, first artists, first musicians, first scientists… amongst many other firsts.

As a school we were so privileged to have Aunty Merle share the significance of NAIDOC week. Please click on the link below to listen to it. We also feel very lucky to welcome Melanie Ashman as our new Koorie Education Officer to help our school community learn more about this very important subject.
