A Word from our Librarian

This term in the library has been marked with great excitement – we get to enjoy the cheerful space again and borrow books!

A week into the term we celebrated Book Week and I created creatures for the children to spot around the library space – this created an ‘imaginative world’ that the children have really enjoyed.

It’s been exciting seeing students’ response to all the new books on display, especially when they’ve found one they love or have been looking for. There are some great new titles, ranging from fiction like The Day I was Erased by Lisa Thompson, graphic novels like Percy Jackson and The Hobbit. Familiar favourites like Weirdo are the latest books to have been added to the series (and have been snapped up really quickly!) There are also beautiful picture books – Finding Francois by Gus Gordon, with its touch of French flair, is one of my favourites.

These new books, and many others – $5000 worth – have been purchased from our local bookstore Fairfield Books, using the voluntary library fund. Thank you to the families who contributed to this fund allowing us to expand the number and types of books we are able to offer to students.
