Principal's News

Welcome back!  It is lovely to have our community back together.  I hope everyone had the opportunity to rest ad relax over the summer break.

Last week I sent out a COMPASS item outlining our return to school.  There are a couple of items in particular that we would like to parents to remain conscious of:

Parents on site

Parents are welcome on site, which means parents can enter the school grounds for school drop-offs and pick-ups. Families are required however to maintain 1.5 metres between each other.  We ask that parents leave the school ground by 9am. Parents are not to enter the classrooms or school buildings (other than the school office) unless they have an appointment.  If parents need to speak to their child’s teacher, please either ring or email to make an appointment.  Parent volunteers can also come on site when approved by school staff.

Children entering classrooms

Children will be expected to go inside when the music starts to play, seated and ready to start work at 9.00am sharp. Grades will not be lining up and waiting for the teacher to collect them and students are not to wait in the yard until 9am.

Use of face masks

As per the directions of the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the following actions are mandatory. Individuals aged 12 years and older must always carry a face mask.  A face mask must cover the nose and mouth. Face shields, scarves or bandanas do not meet these requirements. Face masks must be worn indoors by adults.

Face masks are not required outdoors except where physical distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.

Parents are asked to remain conscious of the physical distancing requirements.

Unwell Children

As is always the case, unwell children should remain home as we do not have the facilities to look after them at school.  If your child has cold and flu like symptoms please take them for a Covid test and keep them home until a negative result is received.

Students with underlying conditions (such as hay fever or asthma)

If a student has persistent symptoms due to an underlying condition such as hay fever or asthma, the student should still be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) if they develop symptoms that are different to or worse than their usual symptoms. Parents/carers should also consider getting a medical certificate from the child’s treating GP to confirm that it is safe for them to attend school with persistent symptoms that may overlap with some of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) such as cough or runny nose.

Traffic Safety

Parents are reminded that there are strict parking restrictions around the school and these will be enforced by Stonnington Council.  It is suggested that parents walk to and from school with their children or park a little further away and walk down to the school, this will help to reduce the congestion around the school. The two ’Kiss and Go’ areas are still in place along Tooronga Road.  Parents are reminded that they cannot leave their car if they pull up in these areas.  If you wish to walk your child to the school gate or classroom, please do not use the ‘Kiss and Go’ areas.

Whilst we understand these arrangements are not always convenient, we thank you for your support and cooperation with this.
