The Foundation children met their Year 7 buddies recently. The buddies read a story to their little buddy and chatted to them. The buddies are an extra friend and support to the Foundation children and a nice connection to the School of Innovation. Throughout the year the children will do buddy activities together.

Foundation children have used a scratch painting technique to create a koala artwork. Children first drew a koala by breaking the image down into basic shapes and patterns. After decorating the background the students then painted the koala and used the other end of the brush to scratch away paint representing the fur.

Over the past few weeks School of Wonder children have been learning about significant Italian cultural events - Carnevale, Martedì Grasso and San Valentino. They have watched some clips and completed some fantastic craft activities for Carnevale, which involved learning about some of the characters from Commedia dell'arte such as Arlecchino, Pulcinella, Colombina and Dotto Balanone. They also did an amazing job at making maschere - masks and pupazzi - puppets of one of the most well-known Commedia dell'arte characters Arlecchino.
This term children have also been learning and revising i saluti - greetings, and ways of introducing themselves through games and classroom craft activities. They have been fantastic with learning the greetings song and actions.
