International Student News

2021 is the Year of the Ox!

On February 12th, the first day of the New Year, we provided a special lunch for all International Students and other local students of Asian background, including delicious dumplings, fried spring rolls and Vietnamese pies to celebrate the big day.

Lunar New Year is the most important holiday for students from Asian backgrounds. People usually celebrate the New Year by having a family reunion dinner, which is a time for new beginnings and family get-togethers.  2020 was a very difficult year for all International Students, because they can't go back to their own countries, they are easy to get homesick at this time.

At Viewbank College, this little celebration indeed deliver the message to our International Students that they are very important members of our school community and we want to further make our International Students feel Viewbank College is their second home and show our extra care and support to them.

Our Principal, Ms Sharon Grimes gave each student the “red envelope” containing lucky candy and gold chocolate to wish them a new year of happiness.

It was a wonderful day of celebration.

Best Regards
