Year 8

Our annual Year 8 Medieval Day occurred on Friday the 5th of March. Thornbury High turned the clock back some 500 years to become home to an assortment of Medieval characters, activities and specially designed lessons.  Our Year 8s took a spectacular time trip back to the Middle Ages.

The Year 8s were split into four groups. Each group rotated through specially prepared areas of the school to participate in sessions on Crime and Punishment, Weapons and Armour, Tournament, and Medieval Games and Archery.  These sessions had professional presenters who used a variety of media and real artefacts, such as swords and armour, to engage students interactively.

A medieval feast of sausages, doughnuts and cordial was provided for lunch. This feast was prepared by our sensational Year 12 VET Kitchen Operations students who worked tirelessly and efficiently to cook and serve a delicious feast. Special thanks to Kayla Goeldner, Sarah McKenzie, Mitch Cannon, Emma Glare, Joey Gutterres, Kieran Teo, Casper Meyers and Dem Muangthawee. Many thanks also to our Food Studies staff Blaga Fakos and Isabella Vigliotti who directed the students and purchased the food for the Medieval dining!

Thanks also need to be given to the daily organiser Ms Aimee Page who helped with the intricate organization required for the day. The Humanities staff were also great in their dedication to make the day the real success it was.
