Interschool Sports

Term 1

This term in interschool sports, Edgars Creek sent girls and boys teams for Volleyball and Tennis across all year levels to compete. All students displayed an excellent attitude throughout the event and really embraced the college value of Respect; with each other and with other schools participating. All students involved represented the school with pride and demonstrated excellent teamwork and resilience on the days.

Well done to all staff and students involved.

I am looking forward to next terms inter school sports of football, soccer and netball!

Intermediate Sports Day 25th Feb at RMIT sports centre.

The year 9's and 10's went to RMIT to compete in volleyball and tennis for Edgars Creek Secondary College. We all had a lot of opportunities to expand our skills in both sports. It was an enjoyable day for all involved

''The intermediate girls volleyball team won one game and showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day. A shoutout to our captain Vicki for being a great source of motivation for the team and Aleyna for her assistance with scoring. Well done ladies!''

Rebecca Stamkovski - team coach

"Both boys and girls' intermediate tennis teams did a fantastic job representing the school and competing. Boys didn't drop a set in the first tie and just fell short in the second against the top team. Girls did a fantastic job, showing great improvement in their skills throughout the day and showed great sportsmanship throughout the entire day. Both teams were extremely supportive of one another and respectful to all. Well done legends". 🙂

Year 7 Sports Day 26th Feb at RMIT sports centre

"The boys and girls tennis teams showed a tremendous amount of resilience to fight back from losing positions to win individual & doubles matches. Standout performances from Hemal Sharma & Oliver Wright throughout the day".

Chris Spartharis - team coach

"The boys volleyball team fought back from an early loss and overcome the length of the court to improve on their serves throughout the day and win a match. Encouragement and teamwork were on display in each match. Standout performer of the day was Stephan Sutton from 7D and the best serving technique of the day belonged to Harry Hall of 7D".

"The year 7 girls had a fantastic day out at RMIT sports centre. The girls showed tremendous team spirit celebrating every single point they scored. The girls were lucky enough to have been coached by two of our year 9 leaders Vicki Fenunuti and Melisa Demollari, who did a fantastic job encouraging and guiding the year 7 girls. Overall the year 7 girls won 2 and lost 2 games for the day, finishing 3rd overall for the day. Special mention should be made to Nawal-Qali Mohamed who showed great calm under pressure with her game winning serves in both wins".

Year 8 Sports Day 2nd March at Epping Leisure Centre

"The boys volleyball team started off against eventual winners Craigieburn. After a slow start the boys played brilliantly and combined teamwork and skill to win the second set and almost cause a major upset, ultimately losing by 3 points in the final set. The remaining two matches went Edgars Creek way in emphatic style. Lyndon Burke and Manjir Karmacharya were pivotal in setting up the tall timber of Maki Faale, Masen Hall and Judd Penn to win the points".

"All 4 boys did an incredible job representing the school in tennis. They showed immense growth in their skills and knowledge of the game throughout the day such as scoring and tactics. They showed great commitment playing singles and doubles without a rest throughout the day and were respectful and polite to other schools. Well done boys - fantastic effort". 🙂

"The year 8 girls volleyball team showed tremendous resilience and grace on what was a tough day at Epping leisure centre. Unfortunately coming away from the day with zero wins on the board, the girls were in high spirits at the end of the day led by their captain Biljana Parevska who did a wonderful job leading her team by encouraging others. The girls came close to a winning their final game due in part to the wonderful serving by Zyrah Nguyen, going down to Sacred Heart 11-9 in the third set. The girls should be very proud of their efforts".
