Senior School Report

It is nearly the end of Term 1. The Year 11 students have started to settle and become more comfortable being part of the Senior School and are working productively and effectively.
The Sub School has interviewed students and in some cases have had parent meetings regarding Progress Reports. These reports are continuously being used to monitor students at risk, and identify students who are ready for further extension in their studies.
The Year 12 Progress Reports were informative for both students and parents as they closely monitor individual students’ progress on a regular basis – reporting on formative tasks as well as the SACs. Parents can access all reports through Compass.
Coordinators are continuing to conduct class visits to encourage punctuality to classes. It is essential for students to organise their time and be punctual to classes so that everyone can make the most of their class time and disruptions are minimised.
On Friday 12 March, Year 11 students spent a day at Lady Northcote Recreation Camp where they participated in team building activities ‘The Amazing Race’. The activities assisted with personal growth, teamwork, leadership and building connections with students and teachers. The emphasis for the day was on fun and building relationships. Our students participated in all the activities with enthusiasm.
The winning team was Team C, which consisted of the following students:
Jovana DOKMANOVIC, Lamin DUKURY, Tina DUONG, Anthony ESTORES, Aaron FARRUGIA, Jason GIAO, Vishal GILL, Rejoice GIRANEZA, Reyner GONZALES, Lilian HA, Ruby HALL, Monique HUA, Kenny HUYNH, Ashley HUYNH, Minhtam HUYNH, Vera Mae ISLA and Tyson Jeans.
There were assemblies held on Monday 15 March. The Year 12 VCAL students presented information about ‘National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence’. The SLAT (Student Learning Advisory Team) spoke about the ‘Effort rubric’ and the Year 11 and 12 Leaders group spoke about the ‘Student forums’.
There was also a presentation about students reflecting on their Progress Report
- What have they done well?
- Where do they need to improve?
- Are they on track to achieving their goals for the year?
These conversations can continue at home with their families.
The Year 11 SRC were introduced during the assembly:
Congratulations to you all.
On Friday 14 May, all senior students will be attending the Careers Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Parents/guardians need to make sure they can access Compass to give consent and/or make payment.
Just a reminder that all ‘Learning Tasks’ and the ‘Students Weekly Planners’ are accessible through Compass for parents/guardians to see what tasks are being done in various subjects during the semester.
Please make sure you are accessing Compass.
Many thanks to the parents who contact us when their child is absent for any reason. This is of great assistance to the Year Level Coordinators and the Senior Sub School Assistant, as we will call home regularly if there are any unexplained absences.
The Case Management process has begun and the attendance, achievement and individual needs of all our students continues to be monitored closely.
Please contact us on 9366. 2555 or senior@stalbanssc.vic.edu.au if you have any queries or concerns about the progress of your child.
