Gradual Release of Responsibily Framework

At St Edward's our teachers use high impact teaching methods to ensure that your child is given the best opportunity to achieve success with learning. The Gradual Release of Responsibility Model is a process by which the teacher, student or expert, shifts the knowledge from themselves to the learner. This is achieved through a sequence of modelling, sharing and guiding, that then leads to the learner being able to demonstrate a new skill independently. At St Edward's School this clear and highly effective practice of teaching is evident in every classroom.

To start this important conversation around teaching and learning our Leadership Team will actively engage members of our P & F committee in Learning Walks at our school. Next term, we are looking forward to broadening this to engage our wider parent community.

Kinder Parent Workshop - Tuesday 16th March

There is plenty of evidence that shows that positive communication between parents/carers, students and teachers supports student academic achievement. At St Edward's School we are looking at ways to enhance and develop the relationships we have with our parent community.

By now all our Kinder parents have been contacted to secure their spot at our first key learning workshop on the importance of Oral Language (Tuesday 16th March at either 2.00pm - 3.00pm  OR 5.30pm - 6.30pm). Oral Language development is key to our children being able to develop effective reading and writing skills. We look forward to sharing our Oral Language Initiative and demonstrating how you can be an active part of your child's success at school and beyond.

If you are not a parent of a Kinder child, and would like to attend, please contact the Infants Office and book in a time. You are most welcome.

Keeping Us Safe - Evacuation Drills

On Wednesday both Campuses conducted Evacuation Drills aimed at ensuring that staff and students know exactly what to do and react calmly in the event of an evacuation. Thank you to all our staff for leading our students through these drills.

Catholic Diocesan of Armidale Technology Agreement

St Edward’s Primary School encourages students to become familiar with the use of Information and Communication Technology. This agreement has been produced by the ICT team at the Catholic Schools Office and is designed to ensure that all students are safe online and that school accounts are only used for educational purposes under the facilitation and guidance of teachers. St Edward’s Primary School students and parents must be aware of and read this agreement, and accept the terms by signing via Compass Events or printing and returning the acknowledgement. Special thanks to the families who have now read and accepted/signed the agreement.  If you have not done so, we ask that you please action this by Friday 12th March.

Thank you for your support of our school as we work to ensure that our children continue to develop safe behaviours when working with technology and online.

Read the agreement here, or via the Compass portal.

Have a great week,

Alison Hatton and Pete Flynn
