National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy  (NAPLAN)

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2021 for Years 3 and 5 will go ahead this year after being suspended in 2020 due to COVID.

NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

The assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance.

NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving appropriate outcomes.

In 2021 the NAPLAN paper tests will be conducted from May 11-13.

Tuesday 11th May – Language Conventions and Writing

Wednesday 12th May – Reading

Thursday 13th May – Numeracy

Further information will be sent home for Level 3 and Level 5 students closer to those dates.

Personal Property, iPads and Mobile Phones

It is very important that students do not bring special or valuable items to school unless required for educational purposes. Personal iPads are an example of an item that can come to school, however it is imperative that iPads are taken home each evening.

The Department of Education and Training does not have insurance for personal property of staff, students and visitors and cannot store personal items overnight.

We encourage families to obtain appropriate insurance for items such as personal iPads used for the BYOD iPad program.
