Positive Climate for Learning

 7-10 Learning Community

Welcome back to school for Term 3!  It has been terrific to see our students back and ready to learn this week.

There have been a number of exciting changes in the secondary school this term.  We welcome two new teachers and one new Education Support worker to the team:

Michael - Michael is a highly experienced teacher who has had a diverse range of experiences working in Australia and overseas as a secondary school teacher.  He will be working full time in the learning community and is already making excellent connections with the students.

Rachael - Rachael comes to us with a wealth of experience in Special Education and has worked predominantly in SDS (Special Developmental Schools).  She will be teaching our students Art and PE each Tuesday and replacing Lyndal in the classroom every Wednesday.

Simon -  Simon is our new Education Support worker.  He will be replacing Louise who is going on Maternity Leave.  He also comes with varied experience in educational settings in the United Kingdom and is settling in well to our Learning Community.

This Friday will be the last day for our ES, Louise who is getting prepared for the birth of her baby in the next few weeks.  Louise has been working at Armstrong Creek School since our inception in 2018 and has been with the secondary school team since the beginning of this year.  She has been an important and valued member of our Learning Community and will be greatly missed by students and staff.  We wish her all the very best as she steps into her role as a mum!

Due to the interruptions of remote learning in Term 2, the secondary students will continue with their current electives until the end of week 5.  These electives include: Textiles, Media, Dance, Abstract Art and Food Tech.  Students will be provided with a choice of four new electives that will begin in week 6 and will continue until week 5 Term 4.

Our Year 10 students have been participating in their own program aimed at preparing them for work experience and placements over the coming months.  Students have been learning how to write letters to potential employers including resume writing and interview presentation.  They will be working closely with GenU to develop their future pathways and job readiness in the coming months.
