Physical Education

Last week was another great week in PE, MPRPS!

This week in the seniors we will be looking at shot put and discus. These events require a bit of technical skill, so you may need a bit of practice to get them right! The following week we will have an assessment where you will be required to demonstrate your understanding of one of our athletics events in greater detail, so make sure you're putting in some practice!

For the juniors I have some games that have actually been created by senior students over the past few weeks. If you can get hold of a few balloons before your specialist day, that would be very helpful!

Physical Education Awards

Senior: Shaun F (5/6W)

Over the past 3 weeks, you have shown incredible dedication to completing your PE activities every single day. You have demonstrated a love of learning about your physical fitness and should be proud of your commitment. Well done, Shaun!

Junior: Mackenzie D (1/2E)

I was absolutely thrilled with your PE work this week, Mackenzie! You were able to demonstrate a high degree of skill with the fundamental movement skills of jumping, leaping and hopping and the obstacle course you created used creative materials and allowed you to challenge yourself. Great work, Mackenzie!

Visual Arts

This coming week I am redirecting our 5/6 students' attention to a task we have previously tackled. Our Iso Art creations were of a very high standard and I am planning to display a few of those contributions in a gallery format. Similarly there will be a collection of junior artworks as well. Last week saw some elegant Notan artworks completed in years 5/6 and our Junior artists created amazing Steam inspired art: Our constructions were based on the story of Iggy Peck Architect. A particularly amazing extension was Marley's zoo in FD

For her excellent playground construction made from fruit and straws displaying a love of learning as well as zest and joy in abundance. You are an amazing learner Zoe and an inspiration to others.

Performing Arts

Another wonderful week of creating and performing.  The Year 5/6 students advertising Jingles were creative, musical and very fun to watch.  The Year 1/2 students blew us away with their dramatic interpretation of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  And Foundations scared us all by using their voices, faces and bodies to act out the emotion 'anger'.

This week the year 5/6 students will start putting together a full advertisement. They will have two weeks to do this to ensure they have enough time to create a fabulous final cut. After students upload their ad's I will be presenting them to their classroom teacher.  The classroom teachers will then choose the ad that was the most convincing for them to buy the product.  The four ads chosen will be informed and uploaded to the newsletter for all to see.  Good-luck to the Sales Reps and their persuasive endeavours.

Year 3/4 will continue their plate rhythms and beats with a brand new song.  I will be looking forward to watching you move your plates to the beat of the music. Last week students worked on vocal skills in relation to their Fairy tale characters. This week they will be working on the physical movement in bringing their character to life. This week Foundations will explore and perform a different emotion through song.

Senior Choir is currently working on a performance piece that will be presented in an upcoming assembly and newsletter. So keep an eye out and your ears for their beautiful singing.

Performing Arts Awards -

Senior: Griffin and Bastion B (5/6W & 3/4R)

For demonstrating outstanding musical ability and taking their learning further when performing their own rendition of the song 'Believer'.

Junior: Shriya D (1/2BR)

For an outstanding performance as Snow White. Your melodic vocal, dramatic acting and beautiful costume, all displayed great commitment to the role. Well done Shriya for exuding your creativity and zest in your performance this week.

Indonesian

Apa kabar, semuanya? I hope you are all looking after yourself during this hard time! During this first week of Stage 4 lockdown I have been truly grateful for the brilliant students at MPRPS. Thank you for your enthusiasm and zest in responding to your work! This week, 5/6 students practised their listening skills in Indonesian by listening and responding to the digital menu of my pretend restaurant, Warung Bu Mundy. Whilst I missed seeing the 3/4s this week, I am incredibly excited to see their Batik designs next week.

The 1/2s completely blew me away with their understanding of 3 mini stories in Indonesian this week - as well as with their creativity in their own sentences! Finally, please enjoy these incredible pieces of work from our Foundation students - who worked to identify and practise their responses to “Apa kabar?”

Indonesian Awards

Senior: Dheer M (5/6B)

Bagus sekali, Dheer! You showed excellent listening skills to name six different Indonesian dishes while you listened to my digital Warung menu. You demonstrated fantastic research by being able to find the names of six dishes from across Indonesia. Hebat!

Junior: Joshua N (1/2P)

Hebat, Joshua! You show time and time again you are able to challenge yourself and build upon your knowledge and understanding of Indonesian. I was so impressed you answered all comprehension questions entirely in Indonesian, and in an audio comment.
