Selamat siang!

Well done to all students and their families for continuing to show persistence and determination throughout Remote Learning. We hope you and your family continue to keep safe and maintain your wellbeing by taking regular breaks and keeping active!

We continue to encourage students to follow the allocated times for each activity and if they finish early we have provided a range of ideas and activities they can continue on with. A list of these activities can be found in the previous newsletters and at the start of the student’s slides each day, or additionally, on the MPRPS Learning From Home website.

Last week in Literacy, our focus was on writing cinquain and ballad poems and upleveling our poems based on the daily feedback the 3/4 teachers post on Google Classroom. It was great to see the students using the resources provided to include a variety of “Wow Words” in their writing and using poetic devices, such as alliteration, similes, rhythm and rhyme, to make their writing expressive and engaging. During this round of Remote Learning, we have focused on encouraging students to read their daily feedback and take action on the advice provided. Keep an eye on Seesaw for the Poem Portfolio the students completed last week.

Last week in Maths, students worked on deepening their understanding of multiplication and division. We had the option for students to present their 'working out' visually, by drawing arrays to represent the equations. Additionally, we had the option to learn about vertical multiplication and how students can show their working out using the vertical template. The strategies and skills they have learnt in multiplication will support them when learning about division in our upcoming maths lessons. For our problem solving activity last week we posed a real life problem to the students, asking them to find their 5km radius of where they are able to travel during this lockdown. We connected one of our maths lessons with Guided Inquiry, mapping out our bedrooms using the BOLTSS strategy and using these same strategies to start designing our very own island!

Our Friday afternoon ‘Skill Masterz’ session seems to be going down a hit! We love seeing all the creations students come up with after following along with the video tutorials the teachers have made. I.C.E. was a much loved event in the Independence Centre and we hope our virtual I.C.E. continues to uphold the standards! Keep an eye out for the new videos each week or look back at the previous week’s slides to practise your skill again.

We thank you for your ongoing support and feedback,

From your 3/4 Teachers :)
