OSHClub News

Hi everyone,

OSHClub remains open during our usual hours of operation throughout Stage 4 Restrictions. We continue to be available to provide before and after school care from 07:00 - 8:50 am and 3:30 - 6:00 pm for the children of permitted workers if those children are also attending school.

A Permitted Worker Permit for childcare is not needed to access out-of-hours school care.

As before, please call the program phone and wait at the school gates when dropping off or collecting your children. Either Jess or myself will meet you at the gate and will be temperature checking children before they enter the school grounds.

Making and Doing @ OSHClub

Last week we explored colour mixing by making our own playdough. The recipe we used makes a soft and pliable dough, which will last a long time if it's stored in an air tight container. It's a great activity for sensory and imaginary play, while challenging children to use their literacy numeracy skills to read and follow a recipe and measure ingredients accurately.

Playdough

2 1/2 cups of flour

1/2 cup salt

2 tablespoons cream of tartar

2 tablespoons of vegetable or olive oil

2 cups of boiling water

Mix dry ingredients together. Add vegetable oil and boiling water (adult help is needed here). Mix into a dough. Add a little more flour if needed and knead. Divide the dough into sections. Add food colouring and mix to make as many brilliant colours as you like - but remember to wear gloves or you may end up with very colourful hands!
