Principal Post

Dear Families

What challenging times we are experiencing here certainly in Victoria and indeed across our country and world. I thank you for your understanding and patience as we partner with you in educating your child.

May we continue to pray for all those who are unwell and those experiencing hardship.

Remote Learning

Next week beginning Monday 20th July we will begin Remote Learning again.

I attach a letter that provides information to parents who have requested to participate in Remote Learning onsite.

I remind parents who are picking up devices, workbooks and packs FROM THE CANTEEN of the following:

Thursday 16th July

9:30- 12:30pm  Surnames A-L

Friday 17th July

9:30am - 12:30pm  Surnames M-Z

Please note a Parent will need to sign out the device.

Hygiene and Community safety

It continues to be VITALLY  important that  if your child is unwell in anyway, they must stay at home. I'm sure every family and workplace understands the importance of this matter at this time in support of school and   community safety.

School Canteen

The School Canteen will remain closed  for the Period of Remote Learning. We will reassess the situation in due course.

Parent Teacher Interviews

- re scheduled

The Parent Teacher Interviews scheduled for next week have been cancelled.

We are planning on having Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 16th  September and Wednesday 17th September. Put these dates into your calendar and we will update you closer to the time.

Year 4 Camp - Sovereign Hill

The Year 4 Camp to Sovereign Hill has been cancelled. We made this decision at the same time as  Sovereign Hill  informed us that all camp programs are cancelled this term. Parents will receive a rebate.

If you have paid your fees in full you will receive a refund. Please contact our Business Manager Liz Szabo on lszabo@sjvmulgrave.catholic.edu.au

Swimming

Given the situation and uncertainty around COVID I have made the decision that swimming  will not go ahead for any students at SJV this year.  This includes 4th Term. Parents will receive a Rebate.

If you have paid your fees in full you will receive a refund. Please contact our Business Manager Liz Szabo on lszabo@sjvmulgrave.catholic.edu.au

Financial Commitments- School Fees and Charges

Once again I remind families that should you be experiencing  any Financial hardship in relation to the payment of school fees/ levies,  it is crucial that you let us know your circumstance,  so we can discuss  and plan a manageable way forward. These discussions/ meetings are confidential. As always the school  wishes to be  supportive of genuine financial hardship.

Communicating with us is an essential part of this process.

Staff News

We welcome back Kristina Khoo from her Parental Leave. Kristina has returned to her  PE position  on Tuesday to Thursday.

Sophie Sullivan will stay on as 5/6 LS teacher on Friday.

School Review Closure Day

Whilst the school Review will still take place beginning August 24th, we have postponed the school closure day which was to be Friday 24th July. Students who are coming to school for Remote Learning are able to do so.

The school will have a closure day to support Review preparation but given the COVID 19 situation and to support families, we didn't feel that next week was the best time to shut the school for our students.

Staff are continuing to plan and prepare for the Review and we will let you know of our intention to hold a closure day when it finalised, taking into account our Community needs.

2021 Prep Interviews

We have interviewed most of  our new Prep families for 2021 but we need to meet with our current families who have a child beginning Prep in 2021.

To facilitate this we would like to organise a googlemeet with each family. These would be held during school hours in the week beginning Tuesday 28th July. These online meetings would go for about 20 minutes and would be facilitated by one of the School's Leadership Team members. It would be important to have a parent and a child available for the meeting.  Leyla Sivic our secretary, or a Learning Support Officer  will be in contact with you shortly to organise meeting times and discuss the process with you.
