SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY - SIMPLY MATHS
While the students were at home last Friday, the staff at Holy Name were working with
Dr Bern Long from Simply Maths, on expanding our knowledge of Growth Mindest and Inquiry learning in the mathematics classroom.
We had a lot of fun exploring different problem-solving techniques and engaging in professional learning together. The teachers can't wait to share these ideas with their students in class.
MENTAL COMPUTATION STRATEGY OF THE WEEK : DOUBLES
Students are working toward having automatic recall of their double facts, starting with their small doubles (1-5), then larger doubles (6-10), then applying this knowledge to any number (eg: 24 - double 20, is 40 and double 4 is 8, so 48).
