Performing Arts
When I’m singin’ I feel so free, like a note in a melody.
Dig the sound when it’s you and me.
Mix it up like a recipe, then connect in a common key.
Here we go now, one two three … We need some harmony.

Music is now resonating through every corner of the Broadley Performing Arts Centre and beyond, as Oxley Christian College students perform and showcase their God-given musical talents.
Music Camp was a great opportunity for our Senior musicians to workshop their repertoire for Open Day and future performances, as well as relax together and have a lot of fun. Our Music Alumni from 2021 organised games for the Friday evening and the two days spent together was a great success. It was evident as the ensembles shared with each other that time spent was worthwhile.
Open Day was a showcase for our choirs and ensembles from both the Junior and Senior School. It was a pleasure for our musicians to finally have an opportunity to share the joy of performance to a live audience. In addition to two high-standard concerts in the BPAC auditorium, music was performed in both the Junior and Senior buildings, as well as to diners in the Staff Room. There were even xylophone and recorder demonstrations in the Junior Performing Arts building. There will be further opportunities to hear our wonderful ensembles this term at the Senior and Junior Ensemble Evenings, to be held at the LMC on Thursday 16 June and Wednesday 22 June respectively.
This week our Year 6 students presented their best acting and singing efforts as they auditioned for roles in this year’s Junior School production of Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. They will nervously await their fate until casting is announced at the end of next week.
Next week will also feature our VCE Music students as they present their work at a concert in the BPAC auditorium on Thursday 26 May. This will be a great night of music, and all are invited to support our VCE students.
Another opportunity to hear a variety of music will be the first of our Soireés, to be held on Thursday 9 June, where many students from both campuses will present works in preparation for the upcoming Music examinations.
There are many opportunities to hear some great music this term, so do yourself a favour and write some dates in your diary for some great evenings of entertainment presented by our College musicians.
