Student Learning

Fruit Break

Each morning at 10am all classes have fruit break! This is a nice short break between our readers workshop and writers workshop to give the students time to have some healthy fruit and get ready for the next workshop. This has proven to help with their concentration. Students are asked to bring a piece of fruit each day and we also have some local fresh fruit from Manto Produce in each classroom.

Foundation

Reading: The Foundation students have been learning to make text to self-connections. They were able to identify 3 connections to their book. The students have also focused on noticing details about characters in their books.

Writing: The students filled a heart picture with drawings and words about things that are special to them. They wrote a story using their heart picture and used a red pencil to revise their work by adding how they felt and adjectives to their story.

Maths: The students had fun identifying 'lighter' and 'heavier.' They used scales to weigh objects from around the classroom and order objects from lightest to heaviest.
