Principal's Update

Hi everyone,
Assistant Principal
We’ve got some exciting news to announce for CPS. We recently conducted Interviews for an Assistant Principal position. We had an extremely strong field of applicants to interview which is a great sign for our school. I’m thrilled to announce that the successful applicant was Jeremy O’Brien. Jeremy will join us from Yarrawonga College P-12 and will bring with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will only strengthen our already great school. He will be starting with us on the 6th June. I’m looking forward to the new ideas and insights he will bring and I can’t wait for you all to meet him.
Education Week
Next week is Education Week which runs from 22–28 May. The theme, ‘150 Years of Public Education’ commemorates the past, celebrates the present and imagines the future of education in Victoria. Education Week is an opportunity for our school to highlight our education journey. This year, our school is 58 years old.
On Wednesday 24th May we will also be joining the National Simultaneous Storytime as a school. National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. The book chosen is ‘Family Tree’ by Josh Pyke and Ronojoy Ghosh.
Writing audience
Last term we spoke about the opportunity for students’ to display their writing in different shop fronts around the town. This will hopefully increase motivation to write and give them a purpose for writing and publishing their pieces. We are very pleased to announce that we now have our students work displayed in the following businesses:
Ambience Hungie Fangs Cobram Bakery Shear Kaos
Amcal The Corner Shop Pizza House Mitre 10
Cobram Library Blush Beauty BABCON Bourke Accountants
‘It takes a village to raise a child.’
Students and families are encouraged to walk around town and have a read of the students work. We thank all these businesses for their support. It takes a whole community working together to get the best out of our kids. We hope that this will have a positive impact on student writing moving forward.
It’s starting to get cold, keep warm and have a great week!
