Year 9

Term 2 kicked off for our Year 9 students with a week of adventure, fun and socialising with the BRIDGES and Duke of Edinburgh Camps. Students spent three nights at 'The Summit' participating in a range of activities from abseiling, snake wrangling, climbing, caving, jumping, hiking and orienteering. Evenings were spent creating artwork, completing a night walk, reflecting on the experiences of refugees, bush dancing or roasting marshmallows by the campfire, while being serenaded by live guitar and vocals.

The highlight for many students was the Monster Course, which required teams of students to complete an obstacle course that involved lots of dirt, water and running! Throughout this time, students were encouraged to take the next step in their personal growth journey, through a process called ‘Target Stretch, Super Stretch’. The result was that many students increased their resilience and comfort zones and had ‘the best fun of their lives!’

Camp Reflections

The best part of camp for me was spending heaps of time with my friends and meeting new people. I really loved all the activities where we could get dirty, such as the Monster Course and Snowy River Challenge.

Year 9

There are amazing but scary activities that you will be faced with at camp. However, you will get the most out of the experience if you just try everything and have no regrets! Even if your target is just to put on a harness you will be so proud you gave it a go.

Year 9

The best part of camp for me was learning all the bush dances, time around the campfire and the Monster Run. My biggest achievement was the Leap of Faith and also the Monster Run because I pushed myself and did a super stretch. I learned that if I have a positive mindset and a goal, I can achieve what I put my mind to.

The best part of camp was hanging out with friends and supporting one another. It was really fun to see other people achieve their goals and having others cheer for you when you achieved yours.

Jasmine Perry

Year 9

My biggest achievement was doing the height activities and challenging myself to give them my best shot. I learnt that in a supportive and encouraging environment, I can challenge myself and accomplish my goals.

Annabelle McHugh

Year 9

The best part of camp was the Monster Course because it was so fun to get muddy and dirty and work together as a team. I learnt that I have the ability to push myself out of my comfort zone and challenge myself.

Year 9

The best part about camp was making new friends from my cabin or the people in my group. I became close to different people who had many things in common with me.
