Investigating Issues in Australia

On Friday, 10th June, the Year 10, 'Investigating Issues in Australia' Humanities class presented their chosen issue to Mayor of Wangaratta, Dean Rees and Councillor, Ashlee Fitzpatrick (ex-Wangaratta High School student). Over the term, students have selected an issue of interest and then carried out sociological research, culminating in a viable solution that could be implemented. The class have spent hours hypothesising; researching; surveying; interviewing; collating data; and compiling research reports with outstanding outcomes. Issues covered included: equality for disabled people; mental health programs in schools; racism; climate change; awareness of VCE/VCAL and further studies options; and introducing Auslan as a subject. The class and I would like to thank Dean and Ashlee for attending the presentations and for providing valuable feedback to the students.

Congratulations to all students who participated and to the class for their willingness to be open to discussions and new topics.
