Sorry Day

Next Wednesday 25th May our school community will acknowledge Sorry Day.

This is a day when our country stops and thinks about the bad way aboriginal people have been treated in the past.

It is a way to assist reconciliation for aboriginal and non aboriginal people in Australia.  This is done by listening to the hurt of aboriginal people and acting to help healing occur.

The hurt we are talking about happened a long time ago, but it is important to recognise that this hurt did occur.  The hurt occurred in a different time, but we can still try and understand the impact this had on aboriginal people, culture and families.

Sorry Day helps us remember and try to make sure the hurts of the past never happen again.

Our school will have a flag raising ceremony followed by activities that explore Aboriginal culture.
