Highvale Cross Country

Last Friday, Highvale participated at the Cross Country District Competition in Jells Park. Many of us were very nervous but in the end, we all breezed through it. Congratulations to Jazel, Aqeil and Mitchell for making it into division. This will be held on the 1st of June. It was a challenging race for many of us but we has lots of fun competing and playing with our friends. Well done Highvale!

EAL Community

The EAL (English as Another Language) Community finally met for the first time after 2 years today :) We watched a video clip about the dragon boat festival and students finished the activity by and making a dragon boat each.

Anzac Day

It’s a proud Australian traditional to celebrate and remember our Anzacs. This year, like so many others, saw Highvale’s very own past student (2011-2017) Lachlan deHaan represent his Army Cadet Unit at 3 events.

Sunday 24th April, Lachlan and his Army Cadet Unit (31 ACU-Norwood) supported The Ringwood RSL with their annual Anzac March down Maroondah Highway. This was followed by the Annual Service, laying of wreathes and the sounding of the Last Post. As always, his family attended including one very proud Grandma.

Monday 25th April – Anzac Day.

Began with a very early start to the day. On the road at 3:30am to get to Millgrove in the Upper Yarra ranges for their Dawn Service. Cadets were on site at 4:30am in preparation for the service.

Lachlan was in charge of the Catafalque party. This is essentially the guarding of the Cenotaph, quite haunting.

Later in the morning Lachlan lead the Anzac Parade through Warburton to the Cenotaph and once again he controlled the catafalque party during the service.
