Week 3 Term 2

Best Wishes...

To our Year 3 & 5 students who started NAPLAN  on Tuesday this week and will complete the  assessments next Monday.

 

The children sat the Writing Test on Tuesday, the Reading test Wednesday and the Language Conventions Assessment Thursday.  Next week on Monday the Year 3 & Year 5 students will do the Numeracy test. 

St Mary's Art Show Thursday 12th May

Thank you to the children for the amazing art work on display in the school hall, for the Art Show. 

CONGRATULATIONS to the Infants winner  William Grogan & the  Primary winner Ashan Jayawardena. Their Art will be sent to the Children's Hospital Operation Art Show in Sydney. The Highly commended awards will be entered in the UNE "Lets Hang It!" Art Competition at NERAM.

Thank you also th the teachers & the P & F who served light refreshments at the Art show.

Welcome to our new families, the O'Brien's. Lilliarna & Kaiden are in Year 2 & 5.

STAFFING - WELCOME 

We welcome Mrs Katie Biddle to St Mary's as our Inclusion Support Teacher (IST).  Katie wil work with students , teachers & families that require additional support with school.

 Mrs Biddle will be working here at St Mary's, St Patrick's, Walcha and St Mary's of the Angels, Guyra as IST.

 

Mr Marcel Garraud will be working 4 days a week for the remainder of this term and Mrs Leesa Bible will work in Year 6 on the fifth day each week this term with Mrs Walters. 

Mother's Day - Thank you

I hope all Mothers and important women in our lives had a lovely day on Sunday. Thank you to the P & F and MIniVinnes for organising the Mother's Day Stall last week.

Class Masses Friday 9am

Last Friday was our first Stage 3 Mass with the Parish this year. It was lovely for the children to join the parishoniers on Friday at Mass.

Confirmation

Sunday was the first lesson for the Year 6 students who are being confirmed on Pentecost Sunday 5th June. Please keep the Confirmation Candidates in your prayers.

Catholic Schools Week 22nd-28th May 

 

We are celebrating Catholic Schools Week from the 22nd-28th May this year. 

The theme for 2022 is "Our Hope-Filled Future".

This theme encompases our collective focus on student learning and wellbeing, which is a vehicle of hope for the future. It also stems from our system vision statement ‘A Christ-centred inclusive learning community that supports young people to realise a hope-filled future’.

Tablelands Deanery Schools Mass Thursday 26 May 11am at Saints Mary and Joseph's Cathedral, Armidale.     

        Open Classrooms, Lunch, Assembly  

Friday 27th May -  Open Classrooms 1:00pm to 1:30pm. Bring a Picnic Lunch 1:30-2:10pm.  Whole School Assembly 2:10pm.                               

THE 38TH ARMIDALE EISTEDDFOD 2022

Our choirs have been scheduled to perform on Wednesday 25th & Thursday 26th May

Stage 1  Wednesday 25th, leave school 9:00am @ NEGS Multi Purpose Centre, Section starts 9:45am, St Mary's 3rd Choir.

Stage 2  Wednesday 25th, leave school at 1:45pm @ NEGS Multi Purpose Centre, Section starts at 12:45pm,  St Mary's is 10th Choir.

Stage 3 Thursday 26th Eisteddfod, leave school 9:30am @ NECOM, Section starts 10:15am,  St Mary's 2nd Choir.  

The  Stage 3 choir will perform at 10.15am and then head straight to the Cathedral for the Catholic Schools Week Mass at 11am..

 

Parents are welcome to attend the Eisteddfod. 

A very big thank you to Ms Sara McNeall for preparing the children. 

 

Audience Fees:

Adult $5.00 for a single session or $10.00 for the day. 

Concession $3.00 single session or $6.00 for a day ticket.

P & F TRIVA NIGHT - 25TH JUNE Save the date!

PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT - READING WITH YOUR CHILD AT HOME 31st MAY 5pm in the School Hall - Jessie Street.

The staff are running an information session on ways you can successfully read at home with your child. 

Polding Winter Sports Carnival

Congratulations Angus Schmude & Ben Cox  who were both selected in the Polding Hockey team. Angus has also been announced as the Captain, well done Angus that is a wondeful achievement.

Diocesan Cross Country

On Friday 6th May 43 students traveled to Barraba for the Diocesan Cross Country. Congratulations to all students on their excellent participation at the Diocesan Cross Country last Friday.  Special congratulations to Lucy Bible who will now go to the Polding Carnival at Eastern Creek on the 7th June.

Thank you to the parents who travelled to Barraba for the Cross Country and assisted on the day.
