Edenhope College Swimming Sports
The Edenhope College Swimming Sports Carnival was held in perfect conditions on Tuesday February 26th. The day started and ended with some novelty races including rope pulls, tube relay, Gretna Green and the Staff vs Students Relay, which were thoroughly enjoyed by both participants and spectators. There were plenty of serious swimming races, where many students put in a great effort and showed great sportsmanship.
Age group and Overall House Champions for the day were announced at the School Assembly on Tuesday March 5. There were also a large number of students nominated for the Christie Hallahan (Encouragement) Award - see picture below. Jin Potae, Year 7 was one recipient, recognised for his excellent effort and for competing in almost all events. Shakayla Summerhayes was the other winner, chosen for her efforts in doing the house captains work, even for the opposition, chasing up students for relay teams.
Thanks to all those who helped make the day such a good one - the staff who organized and helped it run smoothly, the families and friend who came along to watch, the VCAL students, Nikki and Mat Hollis for having the pool looking fantastic and providing the kiosk facilities and to the Parents & Friends Club for selling coffee and cakes.
Splash Carnival
The F/1/2 Splash Carnival was held on Friday March 1st. Although a little fresh to begin with, the students weren't cool for long and had plenty of fun splashing around! Thanks to all the parents that came along to support and enjoy the races. A big thanks also to the Year 5/6 students who assisted Mr Clissold and Mrs Domaschenz in the pool.
Year 12 vs Staff Volleyball Match
Following the success of the staff vs students basketball match, a staff vs student Volleyball match was held on Thursday February 28. A great crowd made for a good atmosphere down in the stadium.
Ms Shuttleworth, Mr Clissold, Ms Hare, Mrs Domaschenz, Mr Iqbal, Ms Endacott and Mr Bucknell faced Year 12 students Charlie Campbell, Cooper Ellis, Billy Finnigan, Ariana Smith-Ralph, Ashleigh Kouroupakis and Angus Caldow
The students jumped into the lead early on in the match, and whilst the staff team stepped up to the competition, they couldn't catch up! The students won the match 21:15. Perhaps a little more practice and the return of Mr McClure to the staff team might help in future matches?!
