Year 12 English Lectures, Horsham College

On Friday 22nd February, the Year 12 VCE students had the privilege of meeting and listening to Mr Ross Huggard, Senior Assessor for VCE English, as he imparted his extensive teaching knowledge on the Year 12 English course and what to expect. His opening overview lecture was incredibly insightful and gave all students a plethora of strategies and tips in being able to achieve highly in their Year 12 English studies.

Our students were also able to partake in a perceptive lecture on their up-coming text The Lieutenant, in which Mr Huggard gave details about the characters and big ideas of the text. The information gained will be invaluable for all students when we complete our study of this text.

These students will have the opportunity to see Ross Huggard again later in the year, to assist them in preparing for their exam.

VCAL BBQ

The VCAL students organized and ran a successful BBQ at the Swimming Sports day as part of their VCAL Personal Development assessment tasks. VCAL students had to submit a proposal to School Council, outlining their plans for this BBQ. They also had to organize and order their menu. The students then did a great job of cooking and selling the food to the hungry swimmers! Great work VCAL students!

World of Foods Elective

Students have begun their culinary journey around the world by preparing foods from Greece, France, Italy and Mexico.

Students are designing and producing a travel brochure on a country of their choice. The brochure is intended to encourage travellers to sign up for one of the local cooking schools which the students will run in term 2. We will look forward to continuing our travels around the world and sharing our journey.
