Primary Assembly
The first Primary Assembly for 2019 was held on Monday February 25, with many awards being presented to students who have started the year off in great form.
Ms Thornton presented four awards to her Foundation / Year 1 students -
- Caleb Henderson & Layton Steiner both received a Star Award for improved focus on the carpet and for sharing ideas and opinions with their peers
- Bridie Hartas was given an award for listening carefully in focus sessions and always trying her best
- Adelle Joubert received an award for showing initiative and always being willing to do jobs around the classroom
Ms Duncan awarded seven of her students for their great work
- Mason Colgate received one of his neat writing in his Ocean Flip Book
- Ayla Domaschenz was given an award for being determined to meet new challenges
- Declan Joubert got an award for making a real effort to complete all tasks
- Jack Smith received an award for trying his best in every task
- Ajay Lees was rewarded for being focused and for following instructions to achieve success
- Marlee Henderson got an award for displaying kindness and generosity towards another student on School Photo Day
- Grace Neall & Silas Hutchins were award recipients as a result of making an effort to read regularly at home
Ms Wallace presented three of the Year 5/6 students with awards for regular home reading since the beginning of term for Merrin Doelle, Rachel Townend & Madison Munn.
Levi Linto was awarded the Giraffe award for sticking his neck out and displaying the Edenhope College School Values by supporting the younger students to become familiar with College routines and helping them to find people to play with at recess and lunch.
The Foundation / Year 1's did a presentation about their home corners and students from all classes shared their creations from their Art Classes so far this term, which have included a range of shiny sea creatures (repurposing old cds and tin foil) and some (fan) pig decorations to tie in with the Chinese Year of the Pig.
School Reunion Art Work
Ms Duncan coordinated an impressive effort by the primary students to provide some decorations for the Edenhope College Reunion Celebrations which took place over the long weekend. As well as three boards full of colorful art, the students also produced banners of origami swans and children.
2/3/4 & 5/6 Class Trips to the West Wimmera Shire
As part of their Humanities classes the 2/3/4 and 5/6 Class recently visited the West Wimmera Shire to learn more about local government.
I learnt what the new hall will look like and when it will be finished. They will start building the hall in March 2019 and will be finished early in 2020. The CEO, David Leahy told us about the history of all the mayors of this town. Mr Leahy told us about the things that the Shire are going to do including fixing up the walking path around the lake. We had to ask questions and Mr. Leahy told us the answer. By Merrin
The year 5/6 class visited the shire office. We went into a big room with a long table. Mr. David Leahy talked to us about the shire. We had to write a question for him to answer. He also told us that the shire was renovated in 1997 and the mayor was elected in 1995. The Shire has plans for the hall to look modern and will include a library, kitchen a meeting room and more. He also said they are going to fix the footpath around Lake Wallace. By Charlotte
We learnt about the new hall and what it’s going to look like.
We found out that there are 87 employees who work full time (including my mum) as well as part time staff. They have people who fix the roads and also clean old people houses. By Jai
