HSC Multimedia​ Major Project

Congratulations Oliver Topp for an outstanding HSC Multimedia​ Major Project and selection for the Shape 2019 exhibition at the Power House Museum. Oliver produced an exceptional stop motion animation titled 'Welcome Home', comprised of over 7,000 individual photos, a hand built set with furniture and over 20 character puppets. The short film showcases Oliver's immense creativity, attention to detail and exemplary technical skills.

 

Oliver's work will be on display at the Powerhouse Museum 29 February to 3 May 2020. 

 

Shape 2019 is an exhibition of outstanding Major Projects from students of the Higher School Certificate Design and Technology, Industrial Technology and Textiles and Design courses. It's an initiative of the NSW Education Standards (NESA) and is presented in association with the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), Powerhouse Museum. 

Acrobatic Gymnastics Australian Selection

Killara High School has had five of its students selected in the 2020 Australian Acrobatic gymnastics team. Acrobatic gymnastics is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work in pairs or trios and perform skills consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music.

Being chosen for the 2020 Australian team is the culmination of two years of competitions and selection trials against teams from around the nation. The following students have been selected.

  • Danyel Jang (Year 8)
  • Teisha Jang (Year 9)
  • Jessica Lee (Year 10)
  • Phoebe Sinclair (Year 10)
  • Cassie Palombo (Year 12 2019)

Danyel and Jessica were selected to represent Australia at the Acrobatic World Age Championships in Geneva 2020 and Cassie, Phoebe and Teisha were selected to represent Australia at the Flanders International Acro Cup 2020 in Belgium. Congratulations to all of these students. An amazing achievement.

SOLO VOCAL CAMP 2020

Congratulations to Carla Ranford-Mills Year 11 and Braden Langley Year 10 for being selected to attend the Arts Unit Vocal Camp. This program will allow talented vocalists from public schools all over NSW to gain further skills and knowledge about vocal heath, performance, confidence and musicality. Unfortunately the camp has been cancelled but will hopefully be scheduled for a later date in 2020.
