D-PAWS PROGRAM

Ziggy has begun full time work this week, spending time in each of the classrooms. She has enjoyed reconnecting with students and discovering new smells around the rooms. Students across the school have enjoyed playing with Ziggy in the yard at lunch times, giving her a pat as she walks past and having her around them as they complete their work in the classrooms. Throughout the course of the year, she will be spending at least two sessions a week in all year levels.

We now look forward to some more behaviour training with Ziggy starting in the coming weeks, which will assist her with recall and sitting still when she is at work in the classrooms. All of this training, as well as her placid nature, is all leading to her final goal of therapy dog certification.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Small on r.small@jpps.vic.edu.au.

We are very fortunate to have three community sponsors already and are always looking for more, so if you or anyone you know might be able to help please contact Mr Small at r.small@jpps.vic.edu.au.

Families are also able to donate toward the cost of Ziggy's care through the Qkr app.

A huge thank you to Mulgrave Country Club for their generous donation towards Ziggy's training and food costs, Brandon Park Vet for their support of the program through free puppy classes and subsidized vet costs and to Waverley Park Dental Care for covering the costs of Ziggy's obedience training.
