Level 6 Sports Report
Interschool Sports
Every Friday Level 6 Students go out and play different schools for summer inter-school sports. These sports include Basketball, T-Ball, Hot Shots Tennis, Volley Stars, Cricket and Kickball. These sports help us to work on our teamwork and sportsmanship as well as being a little bit competitive. In the first week we played Glen Waverley South at our home venue (Caulfield Grammar sports fields) and all teams had great wins. Next we played Mt Waverley North (Team 1) which resulted in wins to the Hot Shots team, whilst the Kickball, Volley Stars and Basketball teams had to share players with Mt Waverley North and they didn’t have a T-ball team. Last Friday we travelled to Wheelers Hill Primary School and the Cricket and Hot Shots teams had great victories. All players had great fun and we hope to have some more great victories over the coming weeks. We’d like to thank the teachers and parent helpers who help each week with scoring, cheering and umpiring.

House Athletics- Wednesday 14 March 2018
The annual House Athletics events will be held at the Knox Athletics Track all day on Wednesday 14 March 2018. All Grade 4, 5 and 6 students have been invited and will be expected to attend. If there are any parents who hold a current WWC check and are available for some time period of that day, can they please email me on s.zachariassen@jpps.vic.edu.au
I will put together a roster to make sure all parents who are available will be allocated roles and jobs ASAP. Also don’t forget the famous Staff v Students Circular Relay event at the end of the day, which also gives the parents the opportunity to race against the mighty Teacher's team. Thanks in advance for your support!!

WESA Swimming Carnival
On Monday 26 February, all the Level 6’s and selected Level 4 & 5 students travelled to Oakleigh Recreational Centre for the WESA Swimming Carnival. The day entailed a schedule of 50m swimming events and a variety of novelty events in the leisure pool. Jells Park PS students performed outstandingly once again and showed why we are a sporting force in this district. We placed in the top 3 in the majority of individual and relay events in the main pool, while many students returned from the leisure pool with ribbons and huge smiles. As usual the standard of sportsmanship and support for team mates was very high among the Jells Park students.
It was a very tight finish in the points between Jells Park and Wheelers Hill PS. We were tied with Wheelers Hill coming in to the final relay of the day. Our Under 12 boys relay team came home victorious and we retained the District trophy for the 5th straight year.
Thanks very much to the parents that came to support the students and helped the staff with various duties. Congratulations and good luck to the students who qualified for the next level of competition (Division).
