Jells Park Parents Committee (JPPC)

Hello Everyone!

We have a number of exciting events happening during Term 1.

On Friday 24 March we will be having the School Disco. This is always a popular and fun event for the students. Cost of entry is $5 per student.

We look forward to seeing all students at the disco with their dancing shoes on and ready to have a good time dancing to their favourite songs. There will be two separate disco sessions on the night:

Foundation - Level 2:            6pm-7.15pm

Levels 3 - 6:                              7.30pm-9pm

More information about this event will be sent home with students soon.

On Wednesday 29 March we have the popular Walkathon. This is a great day for students to engage in some physical fitness and raise vital funds for the school. This year we have a 'Crazy/Easter Hat' theme for the event. Come dressed in your house colours and wear a Crazy/Easter themed Hat for this fun event.

Bonus House Points will be awarded for the House raising the most sponsorship money AND for the best CRAZY / EASTER HAT for each year level.

The Walkathon benefits all students so please get involved and support our school for choosing this health based fundraiser!!! Information and sponsorship forms will be sent home soon.

This year for the very first time we will be having an Easter Hot Cross Bun Drive through Baker's Delight Brandon Park.

The school will receive $2.00 back for each 6 pack of Hot Cross Buns purchased via the Hot Cross Bun Drive.

There will be many different flavours for you to choose from and distribution of the Buns will take place over two days as follows:

Foundation - Level2             Thursday 30 March

Level 3-6                                   Friday 31 March

More details and order forms regarding this fundraising event will be sent home soon.

RECYCLING FUNDRAISER

This year the school will continue supporting a fabulous fundraising activity that consists of recycling unwanted goods. It is called Recycle With Mondo for a Better World. The program involves families within the school community donating any unwanted clothes, accessories, shoes, toys and linen to the school. These items are then placed in special collection bins and our school will be paid $250 per tonne for each clothing recycling collection. The benefit of this program is that it reduces waste to landfill and provides global communities with affordable clothing and employment. So now is a great time to clean out your wardrobes for this great cause and help our school raise some extra funds. This fundraising activity will run throughout the entire year

Specially marked purple bins are located in the office and you can now start placing all of your unwanted items in these bins.

PLEASE NOTE - this is not a rubbish dump, so donated items still need to be usable. There was a huge and positive response to this fundraising activity last year and a very big thank you to the many families who donated goods to this special cause. Please keep up the good work and keep donating in 2017.

AIRSTREAM CAFE FUNDRAISER

Airstream Cafe at Century City Walk in Glen Waverley has introduced an ongoing fundraising opportunity for our school. By using the Airstream Cafe fundraiser card families will be able to receive 5% discount off their total bill when dining at the cafe. In addition, every purchase that participants make at Airstream Cafe, 5% of the purchase money will be redeemed by Airstream Cafe at the end of each term in the form of a donation towards our fundraising targets for Jells Park Primary School. The Airstream Cafe fundraiser card along with an information flyer will be given to students very soon. This is a wonderful and fantastic opportunity for families to support a local business whilst also assisting our school in reaching our fundraising targets too. We hope you enjoy your dining experience at Airstream Cafe.

THANK YOU !!!

An enormous thank you to Lauren Brown for organising a fantastic Twilight Movie Night which was held on the school oval on Saturday 25 February. The night was a huge success and a very big thank you to all the wonderful and dedicated committee members and parent helpers for assisting on the night with setting up, selling yummy treats and cleaning up after the event. Thank you also to our sponsors who supported this event. We had more than 20 different businesses support our Movie Night Event. All of the monies raised from this event will go towards the purchase of new gymnastic and audio visual equipment for the school.
