Sub Schools

Junior Sub School
The end of last term was very busy. We started with a review of student results from the end of the last term. Contact was made with all students, and their parents, who needed help to successfully complete either Year 7 or Year 8. We finished the term with both an academic review and parent/caregiver interviews.
Throughout this term the college in general, and the Junior Subschool specifically, has a variety of focus areas we will continue to work on: for students to bring a full kit to classes to maximise access to learning, to encourage students to be on time to class and to spend minimal time at lockers between lessons to maximise learning time. As well as these organisational focus areas, teachers will continue to strive towards delivering engaging lessons right up until the end of what is a very long term; nearly twelve weeks!
As we enter term four, we look to both the last phase of studies for the year, and start preparations for the year to come. As this article is being written the Junior Sub School and representatives from across the college are gearing up to interview the students new to Year 7 in 2017 and their parents. From the information gained their new Year 7 classes for next year will be formed and the next event on the transition calendar, Orientation Day, will be planned.
On a directly positive note; we would like to congratulate the many Junior Sub School students who have been awarded STARR awards up until this point in the year, earning points for their Houses. Thirty-three awards were give in the Sub School last term. STARR stands for:
SUCCESS
TEAMWORK
AMBITION
RESPECT
RESPONSIBILITY
It is a busy time of the year and I hope all our students use the time available to maximise their learning and gain the greatest benefit possible.
We look forward to working with our students and their parents and caregivers for the remainder of the year.
Middle Sub School
For the last term in the Middle School it is vital that students continue to grow in their level of maturity as they are about to experience greater demands on self-care and self –motivation when they move into Year 10 or Senior School. Simply put, your child needs to begin to work harder than they have ever worked before so that they begin to understand how hard, they in fact, can work! This is not unlike the experience of training; so that we are best prepared for the rigor of the game ahead. The final Year 9 and 10 Examinations are the educational game I am referring to here and thus the culmination of their hard work will ultimately improve their chances of achieving success. To assist your child to be best prepared for their examinations; may I suggest the regular reminder of completing homework and the further extension of completing class and homework, that being actually studying/revising materials covered throughout the semester, needs to be undertaken with some clear purpose in mind on an increasing regular occurrence. Students should begin to be working towards a minimum of 60 to 90 minutes of homework/study per night.
The sub-school is currently looking at the results from the Term 3 reports and meeting with students to discuss their progress. Students should be aware of their own progress in each of their subjects and if they are concerned should be speaking with their subject teachers to find out what they need to achieve in order to be successful in their subject. The school has implemented a range of support programs including after-school homework program running on Wednesday and Thursday in the library, this is a great opportunity for students to catch up on any work or seek extra assistance. We encourage all students to take responsibility for their learning progress in order to achieve success.
Senior Sub School
Congratulations to our Year 12 students on finishing the year so positively. All scored VCE students studied hard and completed Exams while VCAL students worked so well with their teachers to finished off projects.
On their last school day our Year 12 students celebrated in fancy dress in an assembly for the whole school. They then went to Fun City for hours of fun. Well deserved!

We hope all Year 12 students and families have a great time at the Graduation Dinner.
To our Year 11 students and families – strap yourself in for a big ride. Study hard and do your best in Year 11 Exams. Head Start begins Monday 21st November and all VCE students are required to attend with books and diary ready to start. Good Luck in 2017.
