ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS' REPORT

We welcomed our new Grade 6 students and their families during our recent enrolment afternoons. We appreciated our families attending the sessions and our staff who gave generously with their time. We would particularly like to thank the following Year 7 students who volunteered their time - Isabelle Summers, Deegan Karlich-Portelli, Eva Lavanda, Royce Nguyen, Kyamah Justice, Wyatt Howland and Avah Holler.
Orientation Day for Grade 6 students will be held on Tuesday 6th December. As Grade 6 students will be replacing Year 7 students on this day, Year 7 students will not be required at school. Students will be able to complete their Learning Tasks at home.
A parent/guardian meet and greet morning will take place in the Conference room from approximately 9.00am. Tea, coffee and nibbles will be available.
Year 12:
Our Year 12 students have now finished their last exam or submitted their last piece of work to meet their VCAL competencies. I hope they are all looking forward to Graduation Night on Friday 18th November. We are certainly looking forward to celebrating their success and determination in completing thirteen years of secondary schooling. We hope they leave Melton Secondary College with the certificate or ATAR score they need for their future pathways. It is always important to remember that a person is more than their ATAR score. A strong set of values and beliefs will be as important to a flourishing life.
Year 11:
Year 11 VCE students are now sitting their final exams before the commencement of Headstart next week. This is an important opportunity to reflect on what you have learnt this year, what helped you succeed and how you need to go about maximising your study in 2017. Our VCAL students preparing for 2017 must ensure they have a School-based Apprenticeship or a VET Certificate II and workplacement secured for next year. All students must return next year having purchased all the required textbooks and stationery as listed on the Booklist.
Year 10:
Year 10 students should be studying each night in preparation for their examination week from the 22nd November to 25th November. Success on these examinations is essential for entry into VCE. The first week of Year 11 commences on Monday 28th November. For students preparing to study VCE in 2017 this will mean compulsory regular classes throughout the week and the explanation of compulsory holiday homework. For VCAL students, this means training for becoming a Peer Support Leader on Monday 28th November and Tuesday 29th November followed by an interview on either Wednesday or Thursday. If you are unsure of the expectations for your child, please contact the school.
