MANAGED INDIVIDUAL PATHWAYS UPDATE

Career Expo Visit

So far this term year 10 students visited the Careers Expo at Caulfield Race Course. Every major tertiary institution in Australia was present at the Expo, providing students with information about the general aspects of university and TAFE life, entry requirements and the unique characteristics of particular institutions.

Guest Speakers from the Young Workers Centre

Our year 10 students were visited by representatives from the Young Workers Centre based at Trades Hall. The Centre is a one-stop-shop for young workers who want to learn more about their rights at work or who need assistance in resolving workplace issues.  They produce resources aimed at assisting young people to understand their rights at work, such as fact sheets, as well as running training days and social events for young people who want to get more involved in the fight for safe and secure jobs. The Centre also provides personalised advice for young people who have come across issues at work such as unfair dismissal, bullying and harassment.

Work Experience 2019

All Year 10 students should be looking for Work Experience. The completed Work Experience arrangement form and the Health and Safety certificates should be returned to the general office on the first day of term 4 Monday, October 7. For further details, please ask your son or daughter to show you the Work Experience Google Classroom and sign up at the Footscray City Careers website at

www.footscraycareers.com May is Career Match Month for Year 10 students

March was MIPS month, and May is Career Match Month for all Year 10 students. My Career Match matches a students personality style with possible careers. MyCareerMatch helps students connect the two. Within minutes of finishing the questionnaire, students are emailed a personalised career report packed with information and suggestions about the future. It may be timely to ask your son or daughter what they have learnt about themselves from their emailed report.

Year 9 students will be preparing to undergo the Morrisby careers survey at the start of term 3. More details will be provided to you later in term 2. However, introductory information has been posted in the year 9 pathways Google classroom.
