Chang Reflection

Chang Student Profile - Emmanuel Soriano
Holy Redeemer Servant Community. I was practically born into this community and it has shaped me; moulded me into the person I am today. Ever since I was little, my family would attend this community virtually every Saturday and I always found it a chore; we would participate in “praise and worship” which involves the singing of worship songs to and for God and following would be the teaching given by our head servant or a priest that would teach us about the Word of God and how we could apply it in our daily lives. As a child growing up in this community, I found it tedious attending these prayer meetings, however, as my faith and spirituality has grown and become stronger, I realised that this time is supposed to be devoted to God. I realised that God is a vital part of my life and without Him my life would have little to no meaning at all. From then on, I can say that I can feel God’s presence in my life. The most important thing I learned and I feel that everyone should take from this is that God is always there; He is waiting for you always. As I draw closer to God, I pray that others can also see the goodness that God has to offer to all of us.
'Goings on in Chang' - Year 11 Retreat
The year 11s in Chang recently went on their retreat camp to YMCA Lady Northcote. This camp provided a great opportunity for students to work together in a team environment and learn about their faith in a community environment. Some activities included challenging themselves on the Giant swing or working as a team during initiatives and problem solving activities. We shared meals, talked around the fake camp fire, made rosary beads and spent time reflecting on our journey so far. Everyone on our camp was fantastic with their participation and care for each other. Students had a great part in organising various parts of our Retreat so thank you to those students who gave of their time for their fellow students. Chang has a great community spirit which we will continue to grow over the next few years.
