From the Acting Head

Welcome to the first edition of eLink for Term 2. I trust that you, your family and your friends are well and that despite the challenging circumstances we all share, that your home is filled with courage, good humour and hope.

What an extraordinary few weeks we have had. Our School, our families, our communities, our businesses, and our country.

It is times like this that the history of our School feels tangible. Many of the frontline workers battling this pandemic went to this School and are working hard to protect us. As a long-standing institution in Bendigo, we are obliged to play our part in the community by being committed to our response to Coronavirus and our care of one another, just as we have through hard times in the past. Each one of us has a job to do in being caring, creative and connected to one another and to our School.

Thank you to parents and students for your patience, flexibility and willingness to give things a go. Our resilience is being tested, and this is our opportunity to demonstrate to young people how to cope with the ups and downs of life, with calm and good grace.

Our staff are doing everything they can to deliver meaningful off-campus learning, but everyone has a part to play. Students, you need to focus on your education, but you also need to contribute on the family front. Support your parents and others who care for you by putting aside your usual demands and helping out as much as you can. Please continue to follow the physical distancing rules strictly.

I encourage students to think about how they can contribute to the broader community. The Anzac Day service tomorrow is a meaningful opportunity to look beyond yourself, and there is more information within this edition of eLink . You should aim to look back on Term 2 and to feel proud of how you coped and how you contributed to the people around you.

After all of this, your future will still be there, big and bright and waiting for you. Of that, I am sure.

In our 137-year history of struggle and success, our school motto yet again has deep meaning to all those in her community. Per Aspera ad Astra. Through hardship to the stars. Please enjoy the positive mood of this edition of eLink.
