Road to Zero

Road to Zero

On Tuesday 15th October, Middle Years (9/10) students participated in the Road to Zero Regional In-School Program. The new pop-up exhibition and curriculum-linked education program is based on the world-first Road to Zero experience at Melbourne Museum.

The free program engaged students through immersive digital technology to learn about road safety issues and consider how they can contribute to achieving the vision of zero lives lost on our roads.

The program was designed to help students:

  • Examine the key features of successful community health campaigns, using examples of compelling advertisements
  • Understand the different approaches used in campaigns to motivate behaviour change
  • Produce a health campaign video (focused on pedestrian or cycling safety) for sharing and analysis back at school
  • Understand the key behavioural factors influencing teen road safety issues
  • Feel empowered to make safe choices as road users, and create positive change for their peers, family and the broader community

It was a great experience for the students to be involved in as they edge towards being drivers on our roads.

Campbell Corbett- ‘It was very interesting’ and ‘I learnt many things about road safety’

Elijah Young- ‘It gave me an insight into just how dangerous a car crash can be, even at minimal speeds.’
