Junior School Report

Hello and welcome back to Term Two,

On Wednesday May 8th we hosted our Secondary Awareness Day. We invited the Grade 5 and 6 students from our local Primary Schools to come and experience a day in the life of a Lowanna College student. There was a huge buzz of excitement around the College from the Primary School students! The students reported that they had so much fun participating in Sport, Cooking, Music, Science, Maths and English programs. We look forward to seeing the students again.

GPA’s have recently been released and our GPA figures show that we have had a substantial increase in classroom engagement and in turn a decline in behavioural issues.

At our recent Junior School Assembly the Lowanna College Mobile Phone Policy was reiterated to students. Since the Junior School Assembly we have begun running classroom blitzes on mobile phone usage which has reduced usage by 70% in a two-week period. Although the students were displeased with this at the start they have come to realise that they are able to focus more in class time without the added distraction of a mobile phone.

Our Junior School girl’s football side has made it through to the Gippsland finals to be held in a few weeks’ time. Unfortunately our boys team was not successful and were outmatched by other schools. More results on this are available in our Sports Report Section.

We would like to remind students that as winter approaches and the weather is getting colder, our Uniform Policy still needs to be adhered to. Under no circumstances are hoodies or puffer jackets allowed to be worn. Beanies are also not part of our school uniform and they are not to be worn during the day.

There are some exciting opportunities coming up over the next few weeks regarding some student development on Cyber Safety and Bullying. We look forward to this and will keep you all updated!

Regards,
