CAREERS NEWS

Last week we celebrated careers week across the state of Victoria. As a part of these celebrations we had a number of activities take place.

YEAR 12 TIS EXCURSION

On Tuesday 21st May all year 12 VCE students travelled to La Trobe University for the 2019 Tertiary Information Service presentation. Students learnt about various pathway options, as well as finding out a little bit more about what university applications involved. Following the presentation students had time to wonder the ‘market place’ where representatives from various universities and TAFE providers were available to answer questions and hand out information about their courses.

MELBOURNE UNIVERSITY PRESENTATION

As we are a University of Melbourne, ‘Melbourne Connect’ school we had two guest speakers out on Thursday at lunchtime. The speakers were current first year students who graduated from schools in the Lalor area in 2018. The two speakers discussed what life at university is like, including the work load demands and the realities of what it is like as a Melbourne student.

YEAR 10 CAREERS EXPO

Yesterday all Year 10 students attended the careers expo held here at Lalor Secondary College. We had a wider variety of providers from apprenticeship agencies, universities & TAFE’s speaking to students about opportunities for them. The expo was a great time for students to begin exploring their pathway options, as well as begin thinking about what subjects they may be required to complete in VCE.
