FRENCH EXCURSION

ALLIANCE FRANCAISE POETRY COMPETITION

This year, sixty-five students from Years 8, 9 and 10 participated in the annual Alliance Francaise Poetry Competition.

After catching a train and tram to the Alliance Francaise building in St Kilda, we were met by Kellee Lewis, the Competition Coordinator, who led us into the basement, otherwise known as ‘The Cave’. Students were nervously waiting to recite their poems to the examiners and practised reading aloud to each other.

An hour and a half later, it was all over and after taking a photo of the students, we headed off in the sunshine. A few minutes later, we arrived at Acland St, where students had over an hour to savour some delicious treats.

In the next couple of weeks, I will be notified of the students who reached the Finals. As for the other students, their results will be published later in the year.

I would like to thank all the students who entered the competition and congratulate each one of them for their efforts.

Finally, I would like to extend my thanks to the following staff members who accompanied us on the excursion: Ms DeFazio, who along with me, has worked tirelessly with students, teaching them their poems and Ms Ricco, the LOTE Coordinator, who volunteered to supervise the students.
