St Xavier's Feature in the March PK Magazine

EBOOKS, AUDIOBOOKS AND THE DIGITAL LIBRARY

Did you know that St Xavier’s students have access to thousands of eBooks and audiobooks via the Armidale Catholic Schools Office Digital Library?

St Xavier’s students in Years 3-6 are regularly exploring and borrowing eBooks and audiobooks via the digital library. During their library lessons the students learn how to conduct an appropriate search for books and then how to borrow and use the book on their chromebook. Then during “read to self” time in the classroom they are able to access and read these books.

The fabulous thing about the digital library is that it can be accessed from home and is available throughout the year, including during school holidays. If you would like to have a look at the digital library simply follow the link below and ask your child to log in using their own personal username. Students should know their username as it is the first part of their school email address, however if they need reminding please ask them to come and see me in the library.

The digital library is powered by a system called Overdrive. There are a number of apps associated with overdrive that also allow access to eBooks and audiobooks. More information about these apps will appear in the newsletter throughout the year.
