Junior School Report

Junior School Report

Despite the school year coming to an end, students in the Junior School have maintained their focus on learning, and have been busy with completing a number of final assessment tasks. Next week, Semester 2 reports will be made available for students and parents / guardians. We encourage our students and their families to take the time to review the feedback together, and discuss areas of achievement as well as areas for development. At the start of next year, students will be provided time to set achievable goals in certain areas such as Literacy, Numeracy and Attendance.

Over the last few days, all students in the Junior School have participated in a number of workshops offered by our dedicated and skilled staff. Some of these workshops include: Christmas cooking, Christmas wood-making decorations, Robotics, numerous sporting activities to keep our students fit and moving, and a variety of other hands-on activities. We are also looking forward to celebrating our students’ achievements at our national awards ceremony – Orion Night. After a two- year break due to restrictions, we are excited to recognise students for their accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom.

KIOSC – Grade 6 Excursion

On Friday 2 December, some of top achievers entering Year 7 for 2023, attended an excursion to KIOSC - Swinburne University.

Students were given the opportunity to experience a day of 3D design and augmented reality. They spent their time learning about the intricacies of using multiple digital platforms to create a unique AR experience. All students were then lucky enough to take home a personalised 3D name tag. A big thank you to Ms Kathryn Watt who accompanied the students on the day.

“I liked seeing the 3D printers printing our name tags, it was really cool watching them”

Key Information Regarding Term 1, 2023

A return to the school year for 2023 will consist of a staggered start for students in the Junior School. Students in Year 7 will begin their year on Monday 30 January, whilst students in Years 8 and 9 will return on Tuesday 31 January. Students will be participating in an alternative timetable for the first day, where they will be allocated their locker, provided their timetable for Semester 1 and engage other activities such as goal setting. As a result, students are not required to bring all of their textbooks/ resources on that first day.

A friendly reminder that students will be expected in their full summer uniform for Term 1, 2023. In addition, students are reminded that the policy outlines that they must have natural hair colour only, and one piercing per ear (no facial piercings). We kindly ask parents / guardians to assist us in ensuring that all students return to school in accordance with our college uniform policy.
