COVID-19 INFORMATION

It is strongly recommended that students:

  • who test positive to COVID-19 should stay home and isolate for 5 days
  • should not attend school after 5 days if still symptomatic
  • who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school
  • advise the school of the COVID-19 positive test result

Where students become symptomatic at school they should:

  • be collected by their parents/carers
  • undergo testing for COVID-19.

With the incidence of COVID-19 infections rising significantly throughout Victoria we want to remind families of the importance of measures to reduce the spread including:

  • Staying home when unwell – please do not attend school or Kinder as this prevents the spread of infection to others
  • Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) - If unwell, undertake a RAT and if positive, stay home for at least five days from the onset of symptoms and notify the Health Department
  • Social distancing – with COVID-19 spread primarily through respiratory droplets and aerosols, avoiding close contact and staying more than 1.5 metres apart from other people will help reduce the spread of infection
  • Ventilation – ensure good ventilation of indoor spaces by leaving doors and windows open (except during a thunderstorm asthma warning period and aftermath) and using air purifiers appropriately
  • Personal Hygiene – practice good personal hygiene, including covering nose and mouth when sneezing, disposing of tissues after use, coughing into one’s elbow and thoroughly washing hands with soap and water (or hand sanitiser containing at least 70% alcohol)
  • Vaccination – for those who choose to do so, ensuring you have an up-to-date vaccination status

CHILD SAFETY

Keep children safe in public with these 5 ideas.

There is a strong shift away from the old rule of “never talk to strangers” to “never go anywhere with anyone without asking permission first”. A child who has been taught to never talk to strangers may feel they have nowhere to go if they find themselves lost in a shopping centre or other public place.

As parents we need to emphasise who is a “stranger”. Your definition and your child’s may be quite different. Engage with your children to help them understand that a stranger is simply someone whom they do not know. We do not know if someone is good or bad just by looking at them. Rather, we need to teach our children about “strangeness”, which is way down at the feeling level. This is about helping kids recognise that something doesn’t feel right, and then to trust and act on those feelings.

WELLBEING RESOURCES

We know that it can sometimes be hard to find the necessary resources in relation to mental health, bullying and family violence, especially when things are tough. For this reason, the School has a small webpage with links related to health and wellbeing resources. This can be found on the School's website under Other Resources or can be found here.
