La Martinique
Bonjour tout le monde,
J'espere que vous allez bien (I hope you are doing well).
This term, students in Years 3 to 5/6 are learning facts about French speaking countries around the world. They found out that France is made of the mainland (La Metropole) and of several departments and territories (mainly islands) all across the world.
One of them is 'La Martinique' located in the Caribbean Sea.
Here are some numbers that we discussed in class:
Here are also two short videos that we watched in class and that your children might have talked about at home that day. They found out that one of the most dangerous airports in the world is on the island of Saint Martin, which belongs to two countries: France and the Netherlands.
Each of these four grades has just participated in its last French competition and has had a last assessment to earn Dojo Points. In each class, the top four students of the year were announced this week. Very soon, they will compete in a final French quiz to nominate the overall French winner of the year (one in each class).
Here is the assessment given to the Years 4/5 and 5/6 . They had to translate six sentences:
In Years 1 and 2, the students have learnt the vocabulary that relates to family members, through floor activities and by labelling a family tree that I gave them. They are now ready to draw and label their own family tree in French.
Finally, the Preps were assessed on the 10 farm animals that we have focused on. They did very well!
Today's song is 'Juste une femme' (Only a woman) by Chimene Badi:
Passez un bon weekend!
A bientôt,
Delphine
