Student achievements

Congratulations to the following students:
Scarlett Johnson-Harrington (Year 9), who was recently shortlisted as a finalist for The Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize 2022.
The Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize is an essay-based competition which commemorates and preserves the memory of the Anzac spirit in the Tasmanian community. The competition is open to all Year 9 students in Tasmania.
Scarlett wrote a moving reflective response from Alec Campbell's point of view to answer this year's question:
'How closely does the "Anzac Legend" reflect the experiences of individual Australia soldiers who fought during World War I?"
As a finalist, Scarlett had to attend an interview with three panelists in the first week of Term 4. A well-deserved accolade, Scarlett! You should be very proud of your efforts.
Adalia Hauler, Grace Cox (Year 10), Nala Cater, (Year 9), Ava Baker, Alet Le Grange and Clare Wanandy (Year 8), who were awarded a Distinction for their efforts in the Australian History Competition 2022.
Congratulations and well done to the above individuals and all Years 7-10 students who volunteered to take part in the competition.
Charlotte Prichard (Year 6), who recently represented Tasmania at the U13 Australian Nationals Hockey Tournament in Hobart. Well done, Charlotte!
Clare Wanandy (Year 8) and Caitlin McCullough (Year 1), who have been shortlisted for the Catholic Education Tasmania Storytelling Showcase.
This year's theme was 'a drabble' which challenged students to write a work of fiction exactly 100 words long. We wish Clare and Caitlin the best of luck, with the winners to be announced in late November. Well done to all our amazing writers who entered their work into the competition.
Jack Kilgour (Year 2), who attended the Brainways Quest Tutorials program during the school holidays.
Jack enjoyed the opportunity to work with older students which helped to develop his critical and creative thinking skills. The program is delivered by BRAINways Education in conjunction with University of Tasmania. Excellent work, Jack.
