From the Principal

We are now halfway through Term 4 and we are starting to see more of our Year Levels getting ready to complete final Assessment Tasks. Our Year 11s have now joined our Year 12s undertaking exams.

For our Year 11s it is one of their first opportunities to undertake end of year examinations and I hope that they use the time well to learn the best way to prepare and then sit for a lengthy period of time to complete an assessment. I thank the Senior Subschool for making the experience as similar to the final exams at the end of the Year 12 as possible. One of the most valuable parts of the experience is to participate in the feedback following the exams so I encourage all of the students to ensure that they review the experience to see where they can improve next time.

Next week, a group of our Year 10s will be heading off on a Northern Territory Trip. We have had 2 previously planned trips cancelled due to Covid restrictions, one at the last minute, so it has been a great achievement to get this organised. We look forward to seeing a report on their trip in an upcoming issue. Our Year 10 Boys Volleyball Team is also getting ready to travel to Queensland for their competition in early December after their fundraising events. It is so great that interstate travel is now being organised and I thank the staff for their time in attending as well as preparing for the trip.

We have been notified that the builders are very close to starting the building for the Library STEM project. We are still waiting for the opportunity to share images of the building that KTA Architects have designed and will update the community as soon as possible. In the meantime our facilities team is starting to move equipment and prepare other areas of the school.

A reminder that next week staff will undertaking their final Professional Practise Day for 2022. Thursday 17 November. This will be held as a student free day. In 2023 staff will continue to have Professional Practise Days as part of the industrial agreement. There will be one day held as a Common Day and the other held by staff throughout the Semester. We will publish these days as early as possible next year.

I hope to see you at an upcoming event,

Chris Jones
