CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Writing this week we are learning about the features of a post card and how to write one. We will be looking at the features of a post card including the greeting, message and sign off. 


VOCABULARY

Post card: a piece of writing that is written on a card with a message that is sent in the mail without an envelope. 

 

Greeting: a polite way to communicate to someone e.g. To, Dear.

 

Message: a piece of writing written inside a card that expresses your feelings, wishes, care, etc. In a postcard your message may tell someone about a holiday that you are on or a place you have been.

 

Sign off: the way to finish a card e.g. From, Love.


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Discuss with your child what a postcard is. If you have examples of postcards at home show them the examples and talk about the different features of them.
