District Cross Country

Congratulations to all students who participated in the District Cross Country on Tuesday 23rd May, representing CHPS at Quambee Reserve.  We were very fortunate to have another wonderful morning of weather and all students put in a fantastic effort, especially those who were running for the first time at this level.

It has been wonderful to see the dedication and commitment to training over the past few weeks and all your efforts certainly showed on the day.

To top off the morning, our school won the overall North Ringwood District trophy out of 11 highly competitive schools.  We have 8 students who have progressed to Division, which will be on Tuesday 6th June at Yarra Valley Racecourse.  Good luck to the following students:

SSV Trials

Congratulations to Pippa in SKF and Jade in SKT who competed in the second round of School Sport Victoria trials for Netball and Basketball. What an achievement to make it through to this stage as the level of competition is very high. We wish Pippa the very best of luck as she has further progressed to the final stage of trial selections for the Victorian Netball Squad to be held next month.

Book Fair Update

Thank you to all the families who supported our 2023 Book Fair. It was wonderful to see so many children excited about choosing books and some making purchases with their own pocket money or birthday money. Our sales were down about 10% on last year which was still a great effort considering the current economic pressures.

The Book Fair takes a lot of time and effort and it is at times like these that we appreciate the wonderful community that we have at our school. Thanks to the office staff for their help and to the teachers, parents and staff who gave up their time to assist at the Book Fair.

A HUGE thanks also needs to be given to our wonderful Library Technician, Sue Offer, who spends hours making our Book Fair the amazing success that it is.  She sets up the book displays, making them eye catching and easy to navigate and packs and delivers the sold out and online orders that we receive. We appreciate your hard work and love for books Sue!

Books that were sold out have been ordered and most of the pre-paid books were delivered to classrooms last Friday. The supplier has not informed us of any issues with supply of the remaining books and they will be delivered to classrooms as soon as we receive them.

Once again thank you to everyone for your support.

Book Fair Orders Update – Orders that were placed on Friday have been delayed. The company have the books and they should be delivered by early next week.

Premier's Reading Challenge

The 2023 Premier's Reading Challenge is currently underway, all students have received their login details and we are hoping that everyone is joining in the reading fun.

Until September 8th, students can record the books they've read:

Preps - Y2 need to read 30 books (this includes books read to them for younger readers)

Years 3 - 6 need to read 15 books

All students who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate!

If you have any questions, please see your classroom teacher.

Happy reading!

Our medical experts are strongly recommending that all children receive a Flu vaccination now.  There is currently a great deal of flu in the community and evidence suggests that children are being affected much more severely than adults.  If your child is yet to be vaccinated, I would encourage you to check with your doctor or visit one of the local pharmacies who are also providing vaccinations.

As always, please keep your child/ren home if they are unwell and help prevent the spread of germs in our classrooms.
